Vidyashilp Academy hostedits first Model Parliament 2018
Vidyashilp Academy hosted the first ModelParliament 2018 at its campus in Jakkur. The two-day conference hosted overminds from the country to a celebration of diversity and mosaic cultures through its youth power with the theme,†Inspiring the voices of tomorrow, todayâ€.
Over the course of two days, 150 students from Grade IX to Grade XII experienced a truly unique opportunity to broaden their horizons and develop an in-depth understanding and functioning of the world’s largest democratic system. The interschool event accurately simulated the functions and intricacies of the Indian Parliamentary system.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Kalai Selvi, Head of the School said, “We urge the delegates present in the ModelParliament to focus on issues and deliberate to find solutions that in the true sense helps in creating a better India. The aim of the model parliament is to sensitize students to social responsibilities and give them a hands-on experience of parliamentary proceduresâ€.
Lakshmi Ambika Kumar of class X, a student of Vidyashilp Academy said, “We were given the opportunity to debate on and express our views on issues that concern us and shape the world we live in, especially in our country. The model parliament was a new experience; it taught us how the parliament worksâ€.
The conference aimed at helping the youth to get an insight into the functioning of the Indian democracy and better equip students to exercise a meaningful voice in their future. The students debated on the issues like the role of PSU in the state, after effects of privatization, future aspects of the Indian economy, drug dealing, causes of consumer exploitation.
